Police have laid charges in the death of Troy Cecil Napope, a Prince Albert man reported missing by family in June of 2015.
Braidy Chase Vermette, 27, has been charged with first-degree murder in the case.
Napope, who was 23, was last seen the night of May 27, 2015, at a party in Prince Albert. The vehicle he was driving was found burning northwest of the city, just off Whitefield Road, the next morning.
A body has not yet been recovered, but police have been treating his disappearance as a homicide. Police believe he died on May 28, 2015.
Napope’s family says investigators know where the body is located. Police are just waiting for the ground to thaw.
Vermette made his first court appearance on Monday morning, dressed in a grey sweatshirt and and green pants. His next appearance is scheduled for April 4.
