RCMP are warning the public of an increased police presence north of Prince Albert as officers search an area where a missing man’s car was found burning last spring.

“The public can expect to see police vehicles and police officers with specialized equipment searching the area,” an RCMP media release sent Wednesday afternoon stated.

Troy Napope, 23, was last seen May 27 and 28 at a party in Prince Albert. A vehicle he was driving the morning of the 28th was found that same day burning northwest of the city, just off Whitefield Road, according to RCMP. Police will be searching that area Wednesday.

Napope was reported missing June 6, and though neither he nor his remains have been found, investigators with the RCMP and Prince Albert police believe he was the victim of foul play and are treating his disappearance as a homicide.

No other details about the search, which is expected to last about an hour, were provided by police.
