A second person has been charged in the death of Prince Albert man Troy Cecil Napope, who was reported missing in 2015.
Skylar Patrick Bird, 29, of Prince Albert has now been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the case.
Police have confirmed that Bird and Napope were known to each other.
Back in February, Bird was also charged with arson and one count of forcible confinement in Napope’s death. Police say the new charge of first-degree murder will replace the two original charges.
Braidy Chase Vermette, 27, has also been charged with first-degree murder in Napope’s death.
Napope, 23, was last seen the night of May 27, 2015 at a party in Prince Albert. His vehicle was found burning northwest of the city, just off Whitefield Road, the next morning.
Napope’s body has never been recovered, but police are treating his death as a homicide. His family says investigators know where the body is, but they have to wait for the ground to thaw.
Bird is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Tuesday morning.
Vermette made his first appearance on Monday. He is scheduled to appear again on April 4.
Investigators do not believe that anyone else was involved in the death of Napope.
