Police have charged two men in connection with a late August murder in Saskatoon’s City Park neighbourhood.

The men, aged 23 and 28, were charged Tuesday with the first-degree murder of Kelly Diehl on Aug. 29.

Both men were already in custody and were being held at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre on other charges when they were arrested Tuesday, according to a press release from Saskatoon Police Service. They will appear in provincial court Wednesday morning.

Saskatoon police responded to a call regarding an assault in progress on the 500 block of 5th Ave. North on the night of Aug. 29. They found 29-year-old Diehl lying in the area. Paramedics declared him deceased.

Witnesses saw two suspects fleeing the scene but police were unable to locate the suspects following a search of the area.

Police have yet to release the names of the suspects but say the accused and the victim were known to each other.
