Under a desk inside a Rosetown radio station proved an unworthy hiding spot for a pair of suspects who RCMP allege fled from a hospital after a head-on crash on Highway 7.

Mounties responded to the crash Friday morning after an SUV and semi collided about 10 kilometres east of Rosetown, in west-central Saskatchewan. The three occupants of the SUV were taken to hospital, but when they arrived, two of the three fled and hid in the basement of a nearby business, according to police.

The manager of 1330 CJYM told CTV News two people entered the station around noon Friday and politely asked to use the phone. The pair then spotted an RCMP cruiser and told staff they were leaving out the back door, but instead went to the station’s newsroom in the basement and hid under a desk.

Police came into the station and found the pair pretty quickly, the manager said.

A 28-year-old woman from Saskatoon has since been charged with numerous offences related to the crash and the alleged attempt to flee.
