Saskatoon’s mayoral race is still a three-horse battle, but the gap between the top two polling candidates and the other serious contender has widened slightly in Mainstreet/Postmedia’s most recent poll.

The poll, released Friday, lists Don Atchison and Kelley Moore tied for first with 27 per cent support and puts Charlie Clark a few points behind in third, with 19 per cent support. Moore, who led in last week’s survey, held steady, while Atchison upped his support by two percentage points and Clark fell four percentage numbers.

“This race had had plenty of twists and turns,” Mainstreet Research executive vice-president David Valentin said in a media release. “Don Atchison has rebounded to tie for first… while this week we see Charlie Clark slip.”

The number of undecided voters remained relatively unchanged over last week’s figures — 22 per cent of survey respondents were undecided this week and 21 per cent were undecided in the previous poll.

“Ultimately a large percentage of voters are either undecided or soft supporters of the candidates, which means there is still time for plenty of movement before Election Day,” Valentin said.

Fourth candidate Devon Hein, who sat at one per cent support last week, bumped his number to five per cent in the most recent poll.

The poll, which was conducted Wednesday, surveyed 846 Saskatoon residents over landlines and cellphones and carries a margin of error of plus or minus 3.37 per cent, 19 times out of 20.
