A Yorkton man is facing numerous charges after a stolen vehicle rammed a police cruiser early Wednesday morning.

Officers saw a stolen vehicle previously involved in a gas-and-dash driving on Third Avenue North near Queen Street and tried to stop the vehicle just after 5 a.m. The suspect rammed the vehicle into a police car and attempted to run away, according to Saskatoon police.

Police tried to Taser the man after he wouldn’t stop, but it was unsuccessful. He was eventually arrested in the 500 block of Fourth Avenue North and was taken to hospital as a precaution. No police officers were injured as a result of the crash.

The 43-year-old man is facing charges of evading police, assaulting a police officer with a weapon, theft under $5,000, and possession of a stolen vehicle over $5,000. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant and was given tickets for driving without due care and attention, failing to report an accident to police, and driving while disqualified.
