Drivers who frequent Saskatoon’s Idylwyld Drive will be in for a treat Saturday.

Traffic restrictions on Idylwyld will be lifted after months of construction at the city’s new 25th Street and Idylwyld Drive intersection. All four lanes on Idylwyld, along with the road’s sidewalks, will be open.

The 25th Street extension will remain closed until traffic signals and Canadian Pacific Rail signals are fully functioning and tested for safety.

“It has to get worked out before we can safely open that intersection into Idylwyld,” said Saskatoon’s construction and design manager Chris Hallam.

The extension is expected to open Nov. 19.

“It’s been a long time coming,” Hallam said.
