A series of rural break-ins and thefts over the last two months in Saskatchewan’s Melville area has prompted RCMP to ask for the public’s help in solving the crimes.

A residence under construction near Kelliher, a Quonset near Leross and a farm-yard garage near Ituna were all broken into in July, police said in a media release. An attempted break and enter to several farm-yard buildings near Lemberg was reported to RCMP Aug. 2.

Thieves kicked down the door before stealing a large television and two drills from the Kelliher residence, RCMP said. A significant number of tools including impact wrenches, side grinders and socket sets were stolen from the Leross Quonset, while more tools were taken from the Ituna garage.

Police were also notified of two fuel thefts between July 22 and July 28 near Neudorf. An undetermined amount of fuel was stolen from a road grader before, days later, two batteries and fuel were stolen from a tractor.

Police are asking any with information on the incidents to contact Melville RCMP at 306-728-1700 or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Melville is located 40 kilometres southwest of Yorkton.
