A 24-year-old Saskatoon man is in custody after stealing a vehicle outside a liquor store in the Stonebridge area.

Around 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, the Saskatoon Police Service received a report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was left running while the owner went in to the liquor store.

The vehicle had a GPS, which helped to track its location. At 3:15 p.m., a K9 officer in an unmarked police vehicle saw the stolen truck near Airport Drive and attempted to follow it.

The suspect was driving the stolen truck erratically and the K9 officer was unable to follow it safely. Shortly after, through GPS tracking, the vehicle was found in the 300 block of Melickie Road. Police found the suspect hiding under a nearby vehicle.

He was taken into custody and has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle. He was also wanted on several unrelated arrest warrants.
