Saskatoon's iconic Broadway Avenue has been recognized as one of Canada's Great Streets. The Great Places in Canada contest, put on by the Canadian Institute of Planners, selected Broadway Ave. as one of three streets nation-wide.
The institute created the contest to highlight places that "exemplify the highest standards for planning." Broadway Ave was judged on several criteria, including promoting social activities, having a memorable character, and reflecting local culture and history.
The Broadway Ave. shares the recognition with Commercial Street in Nanaimo, BC, and Ottawa Street in Hamilton, ON. For a complete list of the winners, check out the Canadian Institute of Planners website.
