It’s time to get ice fishing shacks off the province’s lakes and rivers.
The province’s Environment Ministry says April 1 is the deadline, except for north of La Ronge, where the shacks can stay until April 15th.
However, getting the shacks off the ice is tougher this year because of all the snow.
Gary Provencher, a conservation officer with the province, says they can make some exceptions.
“As long as they get hold of us, and let us know, we’ll give them an extra day or two,” he said.
The fine for not removing the shacks is 300 dollars. The Ministry is also warning people to be careful of thinning ice as they remove the shacks.
