A multi-vehicle crash involving two semis is blocking traffic on a central Saskatchewan highway.

RCMP say the collision occurred on Highway 16, a few kilometres west of Plunkett, Sask., at about 1:50 p.m. Monday. Both the eastbound and westbound lanes of the road are blocked, and according to the Saskatchewan Highway Hotline, the road is closed between highways 2 and 20.

Details are still sparse, but Mounties say several emergency vehicles responded.

Road conditions are poor due to ice and precipitation, police say. Motorists in the area can expect delays and detours.
