New pictures taken by CTV viewer Landon Sealey show the extent of the damage near Arborfield, three weeks after flood waters tore through parts of Saskatchewan.
The images, taken last weekend, show a road 13 km south of Arborfield. The road was unable to contain the flood water and eventually broke, leaving behind an impassable gorge about 10 metres deep, according to Alois Bronner, deputy reeve for the R.M. of Arborfield. Bronner says the road will not be fixed until next summer, but the R.M. has recently improved a bypass road to the west for residents to use in the meantime.
The Provincial Disaster Assistance Program will cover the cost of repairs, which are estimated to be between $500,000 and $1 million.
