Warman continues to trend upward in population growth.

According to Statistics Canada’s 2016 census, the city located just north of Saskatoon was the fastest growing municipality in the country.

Since 2011, the city’s population has increased 55.1 per cent to 11,020 from 7,104. The city’s growth rate was eight times higher than the national average between 2011 and 2016.

Warman Mayor Sheryl Spence is pleased with the numbers.

She says Warman is great for young families and says she noticed the most growth from 2007 to 2008. She also mentioned that partnerships with other governments and stakeholders will continue to help the city’s growth in the future.

Around the rest of the province, Statistics Canada says Saskatchewan's population rose 6.3 per cent from 2011 to 2016. The increase is above the national average for a second consecutive census period.

The province says Statistics Canada's census typically misses a few thousand people, meaning the population could be slightly higher than 2016 census numbers.
