A Syrian couple whose wedding plans were derailed by the violence in their home country got a surprise in Saskatoon on. Sunday.
Athar Farroukh and Mohamad Al-Noury thought they were just getting wedding pictures taken, but they walked into a wedding celebration.
The couple says they fell in love in Syria but had to speed up their wedding and couldn't have the ceremony they wanted after their village was bombed.
Al-Noury says he has been waiting a long time for a celebration like this.
A local reporter offered to take wedding photos for the couple, then decided to surprise them with a fulll celebration. After the event was posted online, people in Saskatoon donated everything from wedding dresses, to suits and flowers. The Delta Bessborough even donated a ballroom.
The couple plans to stay in Saskatoon.
