A Saskatchewan bull rider is amazing Calgary doctors after being stomped on by a bull at the Calgary Stampede.

Asquith’s Aaron Roy had to undergo surgery and have two rods and eight screws inserted into his lower back to help stabilize a fracture.

Roy was having a career year until his season-ending injury, and now the people of Saskatchewan are coming together to help him out.

The Aaron Roy Benefit Auction was created on Facebook for people to post and bid on items. Roy said he’s overwhelmed with the support he’s received from friends, riders, and fans. When asked if he would ever be getting back on a bull, he said his main focus right now is healing from the accident.

“Right now it’s just one day at a time, trying to get better. I haven’t thought about that too much. I want to get this healed up and we’ll go from there,” he said.
