Prairieland Park is playing host to the 27th Annual Youth Leadership Conference this weekend.

In total, 50 students, aged 14-21, from 4H clubs across Saskatchewan competed Sunday for $12,000 in scholarship prizes.

The goal is to cultivate leadership skills through a mix of social, interactive, and competitive activities. Participants are put into random groups and required to work with each other in a number of different scenarios.

All students are eligible to win a total of five scholarships. The amounts are as follows:

  • 1st place - $4,500
  • 2nd place - $3,000
  • 3rd place - $2,500
  • 4th place - $1,000
  • 5th place - $1,000

The scholarship money is provided by Prairieland Park along with its sponsors, Monsanto, BMO, The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture, and The Western Producer.

Winners will be announced at 5 p.m. Sunday.
