Fire crews were called to help clear smoke following a fire at Walter Murray Collegiate Tuesday.

The Saskatoon Fire Department was called to the school at 3:30 p.m. after reports of a blaze in a locker.

A caretaker at the school was able to put out the flames before firefighters arrived.

Fire crews set up ventilation fans to remove the smoke.

The fire did not move beyond the single locker, the fire department said in a media release.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. Damage is estimated at $2,000.

About 1,450 students were removed from the school as a precaution. No one was injured.
