Saskatoon has a new health centre.

The Leslie and Irene Dube Urology Centre of Health is now open on the main floor of St. Paul’s Hospital and provides support, information, and exams for prostate cancer patients.

The Dube’s donation and community campaign raised the $2.4 million need to make the centre a reality. The donation funded the new centre, as well as renovations on the urology surgical unit on the fourth floor of the hospital.

The Centre has 18 private rooms and the latest technology.

Art Battiste, a former prostate cancer patient, said having all of the phases of care in one place means a better experience for patients.

“If this place weren’t here you’d wander a bit,” Battiste said. “What you’ve got here is one physical place you can go or be sent upstairs and you’ve got people who take the time and who really really care about the patient.”
