Two men are dead after shots were reportedly fired in Meadow Lake, Sask.
RCMP were called to a home in the north-central Saskatchewan city around 10 a.m. Thursday following a report of gunshots.
Two men were found dead outside the house when police arrived. Their names and ages have not yet been released.
Details are so far limited, but according to police, the public is not at risk.
A Meadow Lake resident told CTV News the incident happened near Sixth Avenue West and Fifth Street West.
All Meadow Lake schools were temporarily locked down at the request of RCMP, according to the Northwest School Division.
School doors were locked and no one was allowed in or out of the buildings, the division’s education director, Duane Hauk, wrote in a letter to parents. The lockdown was lifted after 20 minutes.
A crisis and stress management team, as well as division counsellors, have since been brought in.
“There may be students who have difficulty coping with the situation that occurred today, and we have support structures in place to help our students,” Hauk wrote.
Meadow Lake RCMP alongside the RCMP’s major crimes north unit are investigating the incident.
