The parking lot of Prairieland Park is full to capacity this weekend with more than 450 vintage and custom-built cars on display for the SuperRun 2017 Car Show.
From old-school trucks to luxury corvettes, the show has something on four wheels or two wheels for just about everybody.
“It’s just a great movement and everybody’s a gear head, so we all get together and have a good time, swap notes, tell stories, and try to see what’s new,” said committee member Daryk Taras.
SuperRun orginated in Saskatoon in 1990. Events now alternate every third year between Manitoba, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
The show attracts collectors from all over Western Canada and even the Northern United States. Craig Preikchat drove up from Regina this weekend. He brought with him his custom-built 1928 Roadster Pick-up.
“The frame is a 1932 Ford and it has an early Hemi motor in it so it’s kind of a combination of multiple cars made into a traditional hot-rod,” he said. “It's really from talking to others that you can see what others have done, you know kind of see what others are working on, give them tips and pointers that type of thing, and it's really an inspiration when you look at other people's efforts here."
An indoor antique market and a golf-cart raffle are also taking place at the show. Raffle tickets are two-dollars each with all proceeds going to support kids at Camp Easter Seal.
The show will run again on Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
