VICTORIA - B.C. Premier Christy Clark says British Columbia will welcome two homeless men from Saskatchewan who were reportedly given one-way bus tickets to the West Coast.

Clark says welcoming people without judgment is what being Canadian is all about, and B.C.'s doors are open to everyone.

Social workers reportedly handed the two men from the North Battleford area one-way bus tickets to Victoria and Vancouver, where they plan to live in homeless shelters.

Clark says B.C.'s economy is the best in Canada and she expects the province to be a magnet for many people seeking to better their lives.

Saskatchewan is in the midst of an election campaign and the bus ticket issue has the Opposition New Democrats saying Premier Brad Wall's poverty reduction and mental health plans involve handing people bus tickets out of the province.

Saskatchewan's social services minister has reminded social workers in a statement that plans must be in place before people are given one-way bus tickets out of the province.
