RCMP have laid charges against one of their own.

The charges come after RCMP received a complaint from a member of the Waterhen First Nation on March 19 reporting that someone had damaged tires the day before.

An investigation was done by the North Battleford Provincial General Investigation section of the RCMP and then forwarded to Saskatchewan Justice for an independent opinion. After the investigation was finalized by the Crown, a charge of mischief under $5,000 was laid against police service dog handler, Shawn Irwin.

Irwin is 36-years-old, and works for the Meadow Lake RCMP detachment. Iriwn, who ranks as Corporal and has been with the service 11 years, is currently on administrative duties and an internal code of conduct investigation has been ordered.
