A 16-year-old offender briefly escaped a Saskatoon detention facility Wednesday.

Police were called just before 4:45 p.m. after a youth escaped custody at Kilburn Hall and ran from the facility in city’s Buena Vista neighbourhood.

Officers and at least one police dog were spotted running down Saskatchewan Crescent during the chase. Several police cars blocked streets in the area while some officers stationed themselves on the Sid Buckwold Bridge.

The youth was taken into custody on Saskatchewan Crescent, near the bridge, within 30 minutes.

He was transported to police headquarters and will appear in court Thursday morning, according to police.
