A 51-year-old woman charged with killing her daughter outside Saskatoon last summer will go to trial.

A preliminary hearing for Frances Rose Sugar wrapped up in Saskatoon provincial court Thursday with the decision to head to trial.

Sugar, who is from Calgary, was charged with the second-degree murder of her 34-year-old daughter Lindey Sugar after a June 23 altercation about 10 kilometres south of Saskatoon.

Lindey suffered a neck injury and was later pronounced dead in hospital.

The altercation occurred outside of a vehicle on Clarence Avenue South and Victor Road, according to police.

Lindey had ties to both Alberta and Saskatchewan, police said.

A trial date has not yet been set.
