Early Friday morning RCMP in Melfort were called to an altercation in the 100 block of Melfort Street in Melfort.

When they arrived, they found a 25-year-old male was stabbed at the scene. EMS services assisted, and the victim was transported to a trauma centre in a Saskatoon hospital. RCMP said he is in serious condition.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are holding the scene while members of the Forensic Identification Section from Tisdale and Prince Albert search the area of evidence. A police dog from the Saskatoon RCMP is also helping with the investigation.

The investigation is also being assisted by the Prince Albert GIS and the RCMP Major Crimes unit north.

There were several witnesses, and the police are still conducting interviews.
