A Prince Albert man is dead following a hunting accident near Porcupine Plain.

On Friday, just after 6:30, RCMP say a 36 year old man was shot and killed by his 63 year old father, who is also from Prince Albert.  The father mistook him for wildlife in the heavy trees.

Once he returned to their camp, the father immediatly called for emergency assistance through On Star.  Police, EMS and a Coroner travlled by ATV in order to reach the remote area.

"We had to use ATV's to get to the site. We had to cut through three pastures, and than go in by ATV to the hunting camp" said Sgt. Darren Simons of the Porcupine Plain RCMP.

The mans name is not being released at this time.
