An inquest has been called into the death of Roderick Sewap, who died while in RCMP custody in northern Saskatchewan.

Sewap, 43, was arrested in Denare Beach and taken to the RCMP detachment in Creighton on Aug. 25, 2013.

The next day, he had a seizure and was taken to hospital in Flin Flon, Man. before being transfered to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, where he died five days later.

An inquest into Sewap’s death has been scheduled for Oct. 20 to 24 at 10 a.m. at the Prospector Inn in Creighton.

A coroner’s inquest is called whenever a person dies while in police custody.

Creighton is located about 400 kilometres northeast of Prince Albert near the Manitoba border.
