The Huskies have parted ways with women’s volleyball coach Jason Grieve.

Grieve, who was placed on leave Jan. 23 as the University of Saskatchewan’s human resources department investigated complaints made against him, left his position Wednesday, according to Huskie Athletics.

Huskie Athletics and Grieve “agreed to a mutual parting of ways,” a media release stated.

Athletic director Basil Hughton, who has so far shared few details about the complaints that sparked the investigation, was still tight-lipped Wednesday after the two sides split.

“What I can say is it is not of a physical nature, and I will leave it at that,” Hughton told media. “We will begin a search for a new coach immediately.”

Hughton said Jan. 23 concerns were first brought forward in December before two more complaints were made in January.

“It was brought to our attention initially with an email in late December,” Hughton said. “Subsequent to that, there was an email on Jan. 13 and another email on Jan. 18.”

The complaints merited further investigation, Huskie Athletics wrote in a statement.

Grieve was hired at age 38 as the Huskies’ interim head coach in 2011. He earned the full-time position a year later.

Assistance coaches will continue to lead the team until a new head coach is found, Huskie Athletics said.
