A 25-year-old man was handed a two-and-a-half year prison sentence Friday for his role in the stabbing death of Dustin Boulet.

Estevan Fuenzalida pleaded guilty earlier this month to manslaughter and two counts of being an accessory after the fact to aggravated assault. He was sentenced at Saskatoon provincial court Friday.

He was given two years for manslaughter and six months for the lesser charges.

Boulet was killed March 1 after he was stabbed outside Bridges bar on 22nd Street West while celebrating his 29th birthday. Witnesses said he was trying to break up a fight.

Fuenzalida has already spent 10-and-a-half months in prison, leaving around 20 months to serve. He was also given a three-year probation sentence.

Fuenzalida was previously charged with being an accessory after the fact to second-degree murder. Charges were upgraded in May.

Nathan Joseph, 27, is charged with second-degree murder in Boulet’s death. A preliminary hearing for Joseph is scheduled for Jan. 12.
