The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to two separate grass fires Saturday morning along the city’s riverbank

Around 10 a.m., crews were called to the east side of the river, just north of the Broadway Bridge for the fires.

Firefighters say smoke could be seen from across the river.

According to the fire department, it took about 30 minutes for crews to put out both fires. The water rescue team was also dispatched to the scene but was not needed.

The cause of the fires has not been determined. The department says conditions are still very dry and are reminding residents to be careful with smoking materials or anything that might cause an ignition.
