Saskatchewan’s Elk Ridge Resort has landed on a prestigious national “must-see” list.

Reader’s Digest recently released a list of the top nine Canadian Winter resorts, and to the surprise of Elk Ridge’s general manager, they made the number seven spot.

“We’re a little bit surprised at the fact we’re listed with those elite properties,” Ryan Danberg said. “To say we’re excited is an understatement,” he added.

Danberg said landing the spot is a credit to Saskatchewan’s growing presence as a strong province in Canada. “It shows Saskatchewan is becoming such a thriving province. To have something to fly a flagship like this is very unique,” he said.

The resort itself has grown in recent years. Danberg said traditionally Elk Ridge was known as a summer resort, but with recent additions to their winter activities roster they’ve been able to expand and attract people year-round.

The people who are visiting Elk Ridge have also changed. Danberg said he’s noticed an influx of European travelers coming and staying to get the Canadian winter experience.

Elk Ridge is in the middle of a cottage development project to make room for the new demand.
