A major highway construction project north of Saskatoon has taken another step toward completion.
Thirty-six kilometres of new northbound lanes on Highway 11 between Rosthern and MacDowall opened to traffic Wednesday as part of the twinning project.
Southbound lanes are expected to open within the next two weeks, weather permitting.
The province’s highway ministry says the 12 kilometres north and south of MacDowall remain to be twinned, with that work expected be completed next year.
More than 14,000 vehicles per day travel Highway 11 between Saskatoon and Prince Albert.
