Sask. schools among those affected by recent cyberattack
A recent cybersecurity incident targeting PowerSchool, a student information software provider, has compromised data from Prairie Spirit School Division.
In a letter to families, the division confirmed that PowerSchool data, which includes parent, student, and teacher contact information, was impacted. The compromised data elements include names and addresses.
“PowerSchool, a student information software provider, was the target of a recent cybersecurity incident which has impacted school divisions across North America. PowerSchool has confirmed that Prairie Spirit data was part of the cybersecurity incident,” the letter read.
Prairie Spirit used PowerSchool as a third-party provider for managing school division data from 2009 to 2022.
