Sask. teen charged with animal cruelty after dog found dead

A teen boy from Deschambault Lake, Sask., has been charged with animal cruelty after a dog was found dead in the community.

According to police, the incident occurred on Jan. 9, when officers received a report of a male teen seriously injuring a dog. Arriving officers found the dog dead.

The RCMP launched an investigation and arrested the teen boy from a home in Deschambault Lake. He has been charged with one count of causing death to an animal.

Due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the RCMP is unable to release the identity of the teen boy. The police are also limited in providing further details about the incident to avoid identifying the youth involved.

Deschambault Lake is located about 460 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon.
