There was a lot of debate and several propositions as to where the new arena would go. In a six to five city council vote, the rink was placed on the outskirts of the city, and not everyone was happy.

Twenty-five years later, Credit Union Centre is still standing, and it’s still a major venue for all sorts of city events. From being the home of the blades, to hosting major acts like Elton John and Bill Cosby, Credit Union Centre has certainly been utilized by the community.
