Wanuskewin Road was temporarily closed Thursday morning after a chemical spill at AkzoNobel Chemicals.
Fire crews were dispatched, but when they arrived on the scene AkzoNobel’s own emergency crews had already contained the spill, however; firefighters stayed on the scene to support the cleanup efforts.
The company said the chemical spilled, xceltherm MK-1, is non-hazardous and doesn’t pose a risk to the public, despite its strong smell.
The 30 workers on site weren’t evacuated, but part of Wanuskewin was shut down as a precaution.
