Charges have been laid against a pair of rural neighbours in the RM of Grant in relation to the shooting of a St. Bernard dog.
RCMP received a complaint of a dog being shot on a rural property adjacent to the dog’s owners on April 11, 2013. When police arrived, they found the deceased dog.
Bentley, an eight-month old St. Bernard that belonged to Michael Price and his family, was allegedly shot when he left the Price property and wound up on an adjacent lot belonging to Eugene and Laurie Krawchuk.
RCMP have now laid charges against both families. Eugene Krawhuk has been charged with possessing a firearm without a license, willfully and without lawful excuse killing a dog, using a firearm in a careless manner, and destroying a dog other than in the prescribed manner as set out in the Animal Protection Act. His wife Laurie Krawchuk is also charged with having a firearm without a license.
Michael Price is charged with assaulting Eurgene Krawchuk.
All three will appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court in August.
