A Saskatoon taxi driver was attacked by two men wielding a machete Thursday night. Police say the 58-year-old cabbie was able to wrestle the machete away from them, and was not hurt.

The two men fled on foot, but a passing driver called police, and with the help of a police dog officers tracked a man down to a home in the 200 Block of Avenue F South. Police say a 29 year old man was arrested as he tried to flee into the home.

The 29-year-old man faces charges of armed robbery, possession a weapon, and breach of probation, and there was also an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He’s being held in custody pending his first court appearance.

The attack on the cab driver happened in the 300 Block of Avenue E South.
