Firefighters made a grisly discovery after putting out a car fire south of Saskatoon early Wednesday, finding a body inside the burned-out vehicle.

Saskatoon Fire and Protective Services were called just before midnight Tuesday to a car fire on Baker Road, about five kilometres south of the city along Highway 219.

Fire crews arrived to find the burning car sitting in the ditch and fully involved.

The cause of the fire and the identity of the deceased are not yet known.

Saskatoon RCMP are investigating.
