The annual “Tree of Plenty” campaign for the Saskatoon Food Bank got a big boost Monday morning.

PotashCorp announced it will match every dollar donated to food banks across the province, up to a million dollars. The commitment is good until January 15th.

Last year, a similar campaign raised more than two million dollars, helping to re-stock the shelves at 19 food banks around the province.

“This is probably the event we are most proud of that we participate in over the course of a year in Saskatoon,” said Wayne Brownlee, CFO and executive vice-president for PotashCorp.

“We know it means so much to the food banks.”

The announcement was made at the launch of the Tree of Plenty campaign, which is supported by CTV. It’s one of the food bank’s biggest fundraisers of the year.
