A record number of frozen lines and water main breaks in Prince Albert have prompted the city to open a public shower facility for residents without water.

Starting Monday morning, the Kinsmen Water Park will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. while water lines around the city are repaired.

The city says there have been nearly 100 reports of frozen service lines and 40 water main breaks this year, leaving many without water.

In addition to opening up shower facilities, the city has also arranged for drinking water to be delivered to affected homes.

The city says it will take a minimum of three more weeks to repair all the lines and it will keep the shower facility open until full repairs are complete.
