A taxi driver was injured early Thursday morning after he was robbed at knifepoint, according to Saskatoon police.

Officers were called to the 100 block of Avenue O South around 4:30 a.m. A 44-year-old cab driver reported, after transporting six people to the location, one passenger brandished a knife and assaulted him.

The group stole personal property and an undisclosed amount of cash. The man with the knife was described as aboriginal, five-foot-eight in height with a heavy build and short- to medium-length black hair. He was wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans.

Descriptions of the other suspects — three men and two women — were unavailable, police said.

The taxi driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
