Slippery roads and poor visibility factored into a head-on collision between two SUVs Friday afternoon on a southeast Saskatchewan highway.

Melville and Ituna RCMP were called to the collision on Highway 10 near Duff, Sask. around 1:20 p.m. A Buick SUV and a Mercedes SUV travelling in opposite directions slid on the highway and hit each other head on.

One driver was sent to hospital in Melville but released shortly after. The driver and passenger in the second SUV were still being treated in hospital as of Friday evening.

Visibility on the highway was reduced to about 150 metres and road conditions were poor at the time of the crash, according to RCMP.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

Duff is located 23 kilometres southwest of Melville.
