The Saskatoon Fire Department says they responded to seven fires overnight.

Crews were called to a balcony fire on the 1000 block of Matheson Drive and one on the 800 block of Confederation Drive on Thursday evening. Investigators have already determined that both balcony fires were caused by discarded smoking materials.

In the Stonebridge neighbourhood, crews were called to a car fire, a construction trailer fire and three house fires between 2 and 4 a.m. on Friday.

The cause of the fires has not been determined. The fire department says the cost of fighting the five fires in Stonebridge was $450,000.
