RCMP are searching for a man who was allegedly impersonating an officer on an eastern Saskatchewan highway Friday morning.

Police were called to Highway 10, just east of Wroxton, Sask. near the Manitoba border, at 11 a.m. A complainant stated he had pulled over after the suspect, driving a gold mid-1990 Grand Marquis and wearing an RCMP ball cap as well as a high-visibility vest with an RCMP crest, began flashing his lights and waving his arms out the window.

The suspect then reportedly approached the complainant’s vehicle, asking for the driver’s licence and registration. He told the complainant he was an undercover officer.

The complainant called 911 when the suspect was unable to produce further identification. The alleged impersonator then ran back to his vehicle and drove westbound.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact RCMP or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
