In another sign of the demise of the Canadian penny, starting Saturday morning, Saskatoon transit busses will no longer accept the coin.
The automated fare boxes are being re-programmed to accept new versions of the one and two dollar coins. But the fare boxes can only recognize 12 different types of coins, so there is just no room for the penny.
