Community support workers are sounding the alarm about an increase in the use of methamphetamine on Saskatoon streets.

A report, compiled by a five-person community support team, was tabled before a city committee Wednesday. The report states the team has noticed differences in the behaviour of people who appear to be high on drugs — which, according to the report, suggests crystal meth use — and claims the number of people self-reporting meth use has recently increased.

The rise in meth use is something the group has not noticed since its creation four years ago.

The city committee that saw the report includes representatives from detox services as well as downtown business improvement districts.
