Police say a man and a youth have been fined and have had their vehicles seized for street racing over the weekend.

Saskatoon police stopped two vehicles around 1:30 a.m. Sunday near Eighth Street East and Boychuk Drive. Police say the drivers were reaching speeds of 139 kilometres an hour.

A 16-year-old boy and a 29-year-old man were each issued a $576 speeding ticket and $175 fine for driving in a contest of speed under the Traffic Safety Act.

Both vehicles were impounded for seven days in accordance with the law.
